Our story
AREA 51 Artisan Coffee Roasters was founded in 2016 – as a specialty project of KAFEA TERRA, the roaster behind Dimello, created specifically for specialty coffee bars.
The name is inspired by the mysterious Area 51 in the Nevada desert: at its own site in Paiania near Athens, the team runs its “secret” coffee research lab. Specialty coffees with unique origins are selected from around the world – for espresso and filter alike – and accompanied with a scientific approach from evaluation and roasting all the way to the cup.

Specialty coffee accounts for only 5–10 % of the world’s coffee harvest. To make sure it reaches your cup, every batch is checked at every stage – from cultivation to packing.
